Ingredients
1 lb ground beef or lamb
1 medium onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1-inch piece ginger, grated
2 tbsp curry powder
1 tsp paprika
1/2 tsp turmeric
1 cup tomato puree
1/2 cup heavy cream
1/4 cup plain yogurt
1 tbsp oil
2 cups cooked rice, for serving
Fresh parsley or cilantro, for garnish
Salt and pepper, to taste
Directions
Sauté aromatics: Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add onion, garlic, and ginger, cooking until fragrant and softened, about 3-4 minutes.
Cook the meat: Add ground beef or lamb to the skillet. Season with salt and pepper. Cook until browned and crumbled.
Spice it up: Stir in curry powder, paprika, and turmeric. Cook for 1 minute to toast the spices.
Simmer the curry: Add tomato puree and 1/2 cup water. Simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Reduce heat to low and stir in heavy cream and yogurt. Simmer until the curry thickens slightly, about 5 minutes.
Assemble and serve: Place cooked rice in a bowl, spoon the keema curry over the top, and garnish with parsley or cilantro. Serve hot!
